HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: A room exchange
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? Because I would like to live alone with my sentimental partner
Personal comments:
Housing at this university is a little bit like a russian roulette: you can be very lucky or very unfortunate. I was more or less in the middle, living a little bit far from university but not too far, as other students. Anyways, just the fact that they look for a flat for you and save you that problem makes it worthy. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Students equally interact with the local and student community
Activities, Nightlife: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Travel: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Diiva, nice but small club atmosphere Night Train, larger dance place with techno music Best parties organised by student organisation of BOOMI, check their website www.boomi.org! Lots of travel is being organised by them as well. Don't miss Hameenkatu Approbatur in December, largest student event in Finland! My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
I only say that University of Tampere is better than mine. I have learned more during a year than last five years in Spain. The lessons are more practicals and there are a lot of interesting seminars.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
From my point of view, academic life is perfect. I donīt change anything about it. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The language is very difficult, and I couldn't get the hang of it in one semester. Most beginners stuggled. However, Finns acknowledge this and speak english but they are glad to hear a few basic phrases make the effor tand get into the culture in other ways. The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Other sources of funding:
Government assistance Work opportunities:
I didn't want/need to work Personal spending habits:
Cost werer usually on par with Ireland i.e pretty expensive. Phonecalls were costly and I never turned down the chance to travel.I don't regret the money spent on that. Travel, Overall, Telephone: was more expensive than at home. Nightlife, Housing: was the same price as at home. Food: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
The student union run a houehold utensil leading scheme that many people use. I bought all my stuff and kettle, etc in a second hand market for very little.Ask locals where they are. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
You should live your life everyday there, because you won't noticed the day of your leaving!! In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
Very good university, with big library, good academic life, great place for a international students, FINAL COMMENTS
Tampere is the second biggest city in Finland, so it's not a small village. You can find theatres, cinemas, a lot of shops, cafeterias, etc. But it's not a big city neither. You can find a lot of green there, woods with beautiful lakes. Sometimes you miss sun there, but the winter is marvelous. As for the trips go to Tallin, Lapland and St. Petersburg!!
