HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: Corridor
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? There is nothing wrong with a corridor, but I think I was lucky with it this trime. You never know what kind of people you will find. A appartment is more something of your own. The advantages of a corridor is you have social contact really fast and if you stay for a short period you do not have to furnish it. I would only choose an appartment if I would stay there for a longer time.
Personal comments:
The corridor I lived in was very nice and clean. This of course depents on the people living in it. Some people moved out of their room because the corridor was so dirty! I had my own shower and toilet and this was really good! It gives you a lot more privacy! The rooms were very spaceful, you could have a visitor over easily! There was enough light and were enough windows in the room which I think are very important. You had the chance to decorate it your own way and that made you feel more at home. Living together with other international students and Swedes was very nice and it meant you had a social life directly. Depending on your presence in the common room or 2 kitchens which you share. In these rooms everybody had breakfast, lunch and dinner, then you meet your neighbours and have a chat. Then you also get to know where there are parties or other activities as bowling or something else. Sometimes you organise a dinner or parties with all the corridor which is very nice too! STUDENT LIFE

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Activities, Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
Växjö is not a big city at all, but it has beautiful places to visit like the Swedish Glass Museum which represent the tradition of glass blowing and development, kronobergs ruins, the castle close to the university, g the lakes around the university...Besides Växjö city and Småland area, Sweden has a lot to offer. The main cities like Malmö (with the Oresund bridge which joins both countries, Denmark and Sweden), Gothenborg and Stockholm show the different landscapes that we can find in Sweden according to the different seasons. In general, there is nothing to miss in this country, try the food, the so common "Saunas", all the cultures that are mixed....The night life much different from south Europe. My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
Loved this one. Nice and easy and prepared me for my next semester at my home University, I came home to find a lot of the work for my final year already covered in my experience at Vaxjo.
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
If English books were more accessible, I should have prepared and brought some with me had I properly known the areas of particular study. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Language difficulties
Language of instruction: English
Local language was: Different than language of instruction.
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't. Was learning Swedish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Swedish How much did you improve your Swedish?
My level before: Did not speak it My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) Personal comments:
English is spoken quite well throughout Sweden. In fact, it was difficult to learn Swedish when Swedes could speak English much more easily and fluently. I rarely had any kind of inconvenience due to language barrier, but learning some basic Swedish made everyday life a lot easier and more rewarding. The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
An ERASMUS grant Other sources of funding:
Family Personal savings An ERASMUS grant Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options Personal spending habits:
I did a lot more travelling than I do at home. I wanted to take the opportunity to see some of the world! Nightlife was generally more expensive, as was food, although pizza in the campus shop (deliverys done)was cheaper. Food, Travel, Nightlife, Overall: was more expensive than at home. Housing: was the same price as at home. Telephone: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
There is a second hand shop open once a week and if you can be bothered to find it when you first arrive it could save you money on household stuff. Just look around town. Don't expect Ikea to be like the ones at home, I was well suprised when we drew up outside a warehouse with red writing. It works along the same warehouse type principle but is not the cliched yellow and blue-much sadness!!! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

Important to choosing this university...
I wish I had known...
no I knew people that went before so they told me eveerithing. In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
During my experience abroad, I ...
Personal recommendation:
This University is really great compared with Italian University, the only thing that is really hard somethimes is get friend with Swedish. FINAL COMMENTS
travel trips Stockholm, Copenhagen, Adventure trip by bike at Evedal, Helsinborg and Elsingor, Oland natural preistoric park, Gotland, Kalmar castle. Advices If you are not an open minded person, easy going and really active it will be difficult to integrate with the other internationnal and much more difficult with Swedish because you have always to start to speak and to be friendly with them. Compared to my country they are much more reserved, but in my experience if you start to speack with them by time they will become really friendly and supportive. It just take more time and you need been patient. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
