HOUSING

Personal assessment
Type of housing: A room exchange
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why? I lived together with two French students and one Spanish student. Living together with people of two different kinds of cultural backgrounds is such a great experience. Next to that, you'll make friends for life.
Personal comments:
Växjö Universitet is very well organised. It has its own housing officer. She is a wonderful person that does a real good job at finding housing for international students. International students will live off campus, but that is not a problem, because you live together with other international students. And your neighbours and your neighbours neighbours will be international students too. If you are willing to study at Växjö Universitet, housing is no problem whatsoever. STUDENT LIFE

Personal social experience
Describe host city: Student life dominates the city
Travel: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment Activities, Nightlife: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment Personal comments:
The best night spot is Stallarna, a student's pub. It is not something special but the atmosphere is really familiar because most of the students are going there. I liked a lot a cafe in the center called Mila's. The decoration is different from teh other cafe's and it has as well great deserts. A place that you should not miss when the weather is warm enough is Evedal. You can swim on the alke at this place. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

My academic experiences
Course recommendations:
finally all business courses are interesting whereas I won't recommend any social science
My opinion of the university assessment
Personal comments:
Since Växjö I like and get along with group work, writing papers ... but finally the written exams that are based on single books are quite stupid. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

No, it wasn't. Was learning Swedish a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my Swedish How much did you improve your Swedish?
My level before: Basic phrases My level after: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.) Personal comments:
Swedish is a BEAUTIFUL language. Since I keep in contact with many of my Swedish friends to this day, I still get to hear it occasionally. I picked up quite a bit of Swedish, although most of the Swedes will make every attempt to speak English with you!! This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself

The accessibility of student needs
Main source of funding:
A private grant Other sources of funding:
Family Personal savings Government assistance A private grant Student Loans Work opportunities:
It was not legal for me to work Personal spending habits:
Food is VERY expensive in Sweden. But using the telephone and transportation are much more affordable and accessable. My apartment is Sweden was state-owned, so it was partially subsidized and cost only around $225.00/month. Very fair for the great quality. Food: was more expensive than at home. Nightlife, Overall: was the same price as at home. Travel, Telephone, Housing: was less expensive than at home.
Personal comments:
Drink only at the student pubs. Otherwise, your money will disappear quickly. Also, try to eat at home, restaurants are also expensive and the service isn't very good in comparison to the price you pay. This review is the opinion of an iAgora member, and not of iAgora itself
