Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB)
Pleinlaan 2, 1050 Brussel, Belgium, Brussels
Description:
VUB is a medium-sized university, with two campuses. The main campus is in Etterbeek: Campus Oefenplein. Its name can be translated as "exercise ground", which still refers to the time when this area belonged to the state police. Most faculties are located here. The Campus offers many facilities, and it is the livelier one of the VUB campuses. It is situated close to the heart of Brussels. The other campus is the Campus Jette, where the facultity of medecine and pharmacy resides, next to the Academic Hospital. The Graduate program "Human Ecology" is also based on Jette Campus. As a Flemish university the VUB attracts many students from all over Flanders and introduces them to bilingual Brussels, and also is the largest Flemish employer within the Brussels region. The VUB therefore plays a key role with regard to the Flemish presence in Brussels.
