Why? York is a great university. The trouble is that the location is pretty far from downtown. One hour by bus and subway.

Personal comments:
It was pretty good.It depends on what you want. On campus you can have free acess to the library, to the computers...But it is very far from downtown and all the cultural life !

Personal comments:
Great sports centers: -Tait Mckenzei for you fitness, basketball, swimming -Track center: were Ben Johnson used to practice and train young prospects -Nightlife: a disco and several bars, the best two are in Calumet College and Winter college Basements -Good food: at the ice garden center

Course recommendations:
Course outlines are very bad, sometimes with only 2 quizes each worth 20% and a huge final exam worth 60& (due or die!) In addition to that, the books are very expensive, im talking 160 dollars for one book, with tax thats almost 200. And my personal experiance with the professors over there is bad. Their method of teaching only reading the slides he displays on the overhead projector, thats it! (OFcourse thats related to my experience)

Personal comments:
Provide more help for students financially, this school is merciless when it comes to profit. No matter what is wrong with you, or whatever conditions you are in, you Must pay 60% of tution early in the academic year, if not they keep adding interest. And ANOTHER THING IF YOU WANT TO COME TO YORK UNIVERSITY YOU MIGHT AS WELL FORGET ABOUT DRIVING A CAR, their parking enforcment are jerks, tickets left and right, to who?! those student trying to get to class ofcourse. Towing students cars, etc... I have to tell you most professors i encountered at YORK UNIVERSITY were not very fluent in English, and i sometimes had trouble understanding what they were saying, inaddition to that, all what most of them do is read the slides thats it, no explanations.

Personal spending habits:
Food is expensive here, plus the taxes kill you. Plus keep in mind the exchange rate, IF YOUR FAMILY IS SUPPORTING YOU FROM ABROAD THEN THEY HAVE TO SEND YOU ALMOST 3 TIMES what they want to send you, just check the exchange rates

Food, Overall, Telephone: was more expensive than at home.

Housing: was the same price as at home.

Travel, Nightlife: was less expensive than at home.

I wish I had known...
I need a triband phone in there.
