Me, Myself, and I

I've long given up on maintaining an accurate webpage about my life, which seems kind of pointless anyway.... so I'll just leave the links to various projects that I've done over the years.

Unix and the net

These are some programs and hacks that I did... some as a student, some later. There are even some more here.

lingerd
an accelerator daemon for Apache, which takes over the job of doing "lingering closes". Most useful for dynamic page servers with mod_perl.
sirc
an IRC client programmed and programmable in perl. Or look at the ChangeLog for it, so you know if you need to download again, and if so what you're missing.
xtris
a client/server multi-player game of Tetris for X, including an automatic player bot and a message area between players.
YTalk
I have taken up maintenance of the YTalk program, and released a a new version, 3.1.1. The news is lots of bugfixes, and moved to GNU Autoconf.
ircd
I developped the TimeStamping protocol for EFnet-type IRC servers, back at the time when EFnet adopted timestamping (and IRCnet didn't). Here's a description of the protocol, the original code, and a later version which was used in the end.
fd-hijacking
an article I wrote in 1997 for issue 51 of Phrack Magazine, about hijacking open connections on a machine you're root on. Source code for (ancient) Linux and FreeBSD is included.
utalk
an better protocol and client for talk requests, built over UDP. This is an alpha version; it has the cool features of letting you edit and scroll back, but I never got around to making it multi-user.
There are more; the full list is on this page.

All these files can also be accessed by ftp on this ftp server in France.

Other stuff

In my time I've read a lot of SF, and even written a couple stories in that genre, but I don't claim that they're any good.

  • jermi go ves Zoinx. perali ga set! no, I'm not insulting you, just follow the link and see.

    Contact information

My e-mail address is the result of putting the first two words of my name together (from the first 'r' to the first 'l', both included), at yah0o (the but with the usual spelling) dot com.

I've had to close my other e-mail accounts (mainly roger@iagora.net) because they were getting way too much spam. Sorry 'bout that.
