The weight of Problem-Based Learning
Justin H
Denmark, Graduate
Business Studies, 2022
Overall
Aalborg University, specifically Aalborg Business School, follows the Problem Based Learning model. PBL restructures the workload of university learning onto the shoulders of the student. In other words, after the 2 hour lecture 4-5 days a week the knowledge discussed by the professor is open to interpretation by the student. The student needs to be able to structure, organize, and understand that knowledge in a way that best suits them.

Therefore, the PBL model gives you the opportunity to better understand yourself and how you work. From my experience, besides given the articles that can assist in the problem at hand, the experience at AAU is very close to the experience at a future employer, ie. given a problem, find assisting resources, and develop solutions.

The gap between university graduate and employee of a firm is shortened by the PBL model at Aalborg University, and for that I am very grateful.

I wish I had known...
If it's possible, buy your school supplies and books, including a Danish-English dictionary before you go. Books are very expensive. Also invest in a money pouch or something that can go under your clothes. The busses can get crowded and I had my purse stolen (the strap was cut).

Final comments
I don't know anything about the costs for non-EU citizens as my British passport got me free tuition, and rent as I remember is somewhere around $250 a month for a really great room in the International House. Denmark is extremely cold. Bring earmuffs and a good coat. Clothes and books are really expensive. Feel free to ask me questions. I'll try to help you out. Happy hunting!

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
An apartement/house got the advantage to stay close to downtown. Maybe on the campus should be a good solution to stay close to university.
