Other sources of funding:

Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits
I spent more because I did a lot more. I was able to do so much more b/c the academics were not as challenging. I was also able to do more b/c I did not have all the commitments on my time abroad as I typically did in the states through clubs or community service involvement. This was an important factor motivating me to go abroad at all.

Academic
Course recommendations
the less students there are in the program, the less classes there are available to choose from, so while the size of the program was a strength in terms of being able to become friends with everyone in it, it was a hindrance academically.

Overall
I wish I had known...
that I would inevitably want to stay for the year, as opposed to just the semester

In my opinion:
Everybody loved it, you will too!
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
truth in advertising. there were a few things people were disappointed about that they really would not have been if their pr would have been more honest. for instance, the guidebook says there's a Desert Adventure Club(or something of that nature), so we asked about it. when we did, we were told that if we wanted to form one, we could. realistically, all it was, was one of the madrachin giving advice & guidance for hikes and campping. it was not as established or organized as the guidebook had made it out to be.

During my experience abroad, I ...
(1) Never – (4) A lot
Became familiar with another culture
Met people from other countries
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies & career
Final comments
if you stay for the year, you get to stay in upper class housing(single room as opposed to double), while if only there for the semester, you will probably be in freshman housing.

Personal comments
I began with no knowlege of Hebrew beyond the alphabet, but left with the ability to hold a conversation in Hebrew, as well as with basic knowledge of the grammar. being in beer-sheva, as opposed to tel-aviv or jerusalem is a definite positive in that area.

Gaos, the bar in the Gimmel dorm was the best place to go simply b/c of convenience but also b/c it catered to the college crowd. Go to festivals and outdoor markets whenever you can. take advantage of the opportunity to go camping, hiking, and bicycling throughout the country(but not before checking on safety warnings; also, make sure to bring plenty of water).
