Well, There are lot of ways, Try to go to Supermarkets which are just 15-30 mins from University. You can find lot of stuff from there for chaper price. The Hungarian government provides lot of benifits to students. Try to find what is available during first few weeks of your stay.

be careful ! house owners give their houses much more expensive if they see you are foreigner ! help from a local person can reduce your efforts and costs much more for a better quality.
