Most people speak English in Quebec, however there are a suprisingly large number of people who don't. The French language in Quebec is hard at first to understand for anybody who is taught from traditional French langauge courses.

Never go out with out your map on the first week of your arrival.
Be sure that you're getting in to the right bus/metro, if you're not... ask!
