it's very important with who you've in contact, if you live in a shared appartment try to get foreign roommates and try to get in contact with other foreign students and local ones, anyway teachers aren't difficult to understand in contrast to classmates, this can turn out to be a good guess

ALDI has settled down recently in the city centre and dunnes store is quite moderate, there is a vegetablemarket next henry street where you get food to very good prices, cinema: don't forget your student card, the UGC in Parnell Str. is quite good besides try to live with the fact that everything costs the double than at home

Academic
Course recommendations
take the inconvenience to choose courses by yourself out of various years and timetables; can be very nerved because support by the person who is responsible for you is not always granted, all in all it isn't too difficult to take place in the courses and exams

the best thing in Ireland is the nature and thatswhy use your spartime to travel as much as possible; the wether isn't that bad as it is said; the will not be cheated with the amount of beer you get, i.e. pints are overfull, get used to the typical irish way of living-they don't complain and are very friendly and don't be surprised about the straight queues at bus stations

a lot of typical irish pubs, can become a little bit boring after 2 weeks; recently some more international style bars have opened, watch out for Zansibar, Pravda, SpiBar, QBar,... not too much venues playing alternative kind of music, mostly techno or traditional irish, try out Whelans or Shelter if you prefer a good cafe and a really good piece of apple pie go to the Winding Stair Cafe, next to the Half Penny bridge or the Cafe Mocca, near to St.Green Shopping Centre

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Mostly no rooms on campus are offered in Dublin. As far as I know only UCD offers campus rooms. living in a family can be very expensive and restrictive. better get used to share a room with 1 or 2, bcause rents are extremly high and room sharing is very usual.
