Academic
Course recommendations
Very interesting and a lot of work but I learned so much, not only about English Linguistics but also about Hungarian life and culture. I was the only exchange student and had a lot of contact with local communities. I also played theatre on the campus. It was just great! I am still missing it every day :-) and am looking forward to going there another time.

Personal comments
The quality of exams was too low compared to the level of the courses during the semester. I was disappointed after the exam period.. I put so much effort in it, which was not necessary if you look at it now.

Personal recommendation
Very good academic staff and great study spirit. The students are so motivated you have really fun attending lectures and seminars. The only negative thing is that access to academic sources is quite pour. The library is rather empty and internet databases are not free for students as they are in Leuven.

I studied Hungarian in Belgium before and took an Erasmus summer course in August in Hungary. It was a great experience! My courses were in English (as I am studying English linguistics) but as I was the only exchange student, Hungarian was the default language during breaks, in communication with professors, social encounters, etc. I took Hungarian evening courses three times a week and progressed very quickly! I am still writing emails with friends and am a member of a Hungarian group in Leuven.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
You have the complete freedom to invite friends and at the same time a nice environment for studying. Also my housemates were great! I learned German and Italian thanks to them!

Housing at the campus was possible but in Hungary conditions are very pour compared to Belgium. I went there sometimes to visit Hungarian friends and had great evenings together with them but personally I was happy to live in a flat with a German girl and an Italian guy. Very international! And always visitors from all over Europe..
