HousingType of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I had independence and more of my own space than on campus - not that there is a campus at EAE. It is right in the centre of town by the Cathedral.

No top notch clubs in the UK sense as such but all bars and clubs had a unique atmosphere. Good place to start Plaza Real, Oveja Negra and El Bosque off Las Ramblas.

OverallI wish I had known...
I think not knowing anybody was part of the thrill for me and made the actual experience much more rewarding once I'd made friends. For some this might be a worry, but then moving abroad is a challenging, daunting experience anyway.

Personal recommendation
Well positioned, good quality teaching, but more intensive study than I had been used to. EAE is one of the leading business schools in Spain and studying there was a great experience.

Final comments
An excellent city, an excellent school, great nighlife, thousands of international students and a real community spirit. Easy to meet people and make friends. Some of my closest friends were met during my time in Barcelona and I'm sure that these will be friends for life. If that isn't enough, Catalunya has some great beaches and a nice climate all year.

AcademicCourse recommendations
Intensive regular clasroom hours - 9-1 daily. For international students some courses were too specific to the Spanish system - i.e. Fiscal Law and Accountancy but options to swap. I swapped for Marketing Research and IT.

Spanish very friendly and accomodating, never felt intimidated and felt extremely fluent after my year in Barcelona. Despite the fact that Barcelona is bi-lingual (Catalan and Castillian), I found 99% of people had no problem with talking in Castillian to me. However, after a year I had picked up basic Catalan too.

Personal spending habits
Food and accomodation are cheaper in Spain than in Nottingham even in Barcelona. Telephone, we only received inbound calls. I spent more on nightlife because I went out almost every night and travel was obviously more expensive due to the number of flights back to the UK I took.
