Personal comments
French people are usually proficient in written English, but have difficulties understanding native speakers. I am able to understand fully dialogues in English, what I was not able to do before that stay in U.K. Thanks to my studies I could improve my proficiency in academic and everyday language.

Nothing. It was a full discovery of a culture I did not know before. I did not have bad surprises except regarding the overall high expenses.

Transferring money from a French account costs a lot, as well as withdrawing money from it. The best way to save money is to have a local bank account.
