Before the semester started, I had two months of intense German courses. My grammar was already very good, but I improved it and my vocabulary was greatly approved. I also had a television for the last three months, which helped a lot with vocabulary and slang.

Personal comments
Most younger Germans speak English fluently. If you really want to learn the language don't offer them any windows of opportunity to speak Enlish. Struggle along with German. Otherwise they tend to speak only English with you.

the overall experience is very good. Although German language is quite difficult language to learn, but student life, a range of social events and venues help a lot. Also teachers and administrative staff are very helpful and pleasant.

Short, but intensive language courses, both before departure from home and upon arrival in Tübingen, were extremely useful in helping me cope with and gain from the steep language learning curve.

I enrolled in an intensive course at the beginning of my stay. It was the best thing I could have done, I learnt so much and in 4 weeks was starting to get comfortable with German.
