Housing
Type of housing: Dorm, but not really "On Campus"
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Dorm again
Why?
Because almost all the exchange students live there... that's where the party goes and you get to know people.

Personal comments
Very expensive (paid 650 USD for a flat I shared with someone else), Dorm is inside a 18-floor tower that is already 25 years old. Rooms are furnished with bed, cupboard, desk, chairs, kitchen etc. but there is absolutely nothing like dishes or cuttlery or a TV...

Student life

Nightlife, Activities: Takes place both within and outside of the university/student environment
Personal social experience
Personal comments
Buckhead is the area where everyone seems to be going at the beginning... but it gets boring quickly. Better go DownTown to such stylish places as "Leopard's Lounge"!

Overall
I wish I had known...
That Atlanta is actually in the middle of nowhere and that most clubs close at 3, the rest at 4 a.m.
After that, there is nothing much to do but go to bed.
And one more thing: You NEED a car to get around, otherwise you are lost!

Atlanta is not the greatest place, but the University is good and you will get to know a lot of amazing exchange students. I made friends for life!

Final comments
Travel to Miami, it's the best! Hook up with other exchange students and buy a car together. Then travel around and sell it at the end... it is worth it!

Personal spending habits
The Dollar - EURO exchange rate was very unfavourable at that time, so everything was much more expensive. Actually, I am confident to say that food, nightlife and accomodation were twice as expensive as at home!

My level after: No problems in any areas (including slang)
Language difficulties

Had no problems. However, my English was already very good. Without English it is probably very hard, since people here hardly speak anything else.
