Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
On campus is the easiest when you're studying. Apartments especially in Paris are even more expensive unless you are lucky.

Personal comments
The room was equipped but very cold in the winter. Bathroom was shared with the neighbour and toilets were in the corridor. A disadvantage was that there was no kitchen so you have to eat at the campus restaurant or cafe.

Course recommendations
I took the major "Europe" and I was disappointed by the quality of the courses. The teachers were mainly externals, not professors.

Studuying at HEC is very practical. Books were not used a lot and there were not a lot of exams. More often the evaluation was base on a case study, a presentation or a study paper. Presence at the courses is mandatory.

I spoke both French and English with the exchange students and French with the local people. The French people had most of the time a positive attitude towards exchange students' French speaking.

Personal recommendation
The academic experience depends a lot on the major you choose. Apparently some of them are of very high quality (finance, marketing), mine was not. The local people at HEC come from upper social class and thus are not average French people. I felt that they were a little bit proud sometimes and everybody were not friendly. Students at HEC are also often very intelligent, a bit older and have already one or two diplomas.

Final comments
The overall experience was positive. Living at a campus was a whole new thing for me and it was interesting. Anyway I think that 4 moths of campus life is enough for me and next time I would like to live in the city! ;-)

Paris is an expensive city to go out, eat and do shopping. The rent at the campus was relatively high. Also mobile phone calls were more expensive than in my home country.
