Personal comments
I knew that the price level would be the double and that's why you really should have some private savings. The money from ERASMUS and the state is by far not enough. In general, preparties are very common not to spend that much money when going out later. For buying university stuff, it would be good if you find someone who shares the costs (books etc.) with you.

If you travel around you should use a 4-wheel-drive because Icelandic roads are in a very bad condition. But all in all, Iceland is a really facinating country and you shouldn't miss it!!
