I wish I had known...
I wish I had known the city a little better before renting out an apartment. Everything in Madrid is very close and some areas offer much cheaper housing.

When looking for "alojamiento", do not be afraid to take the metro and live a little further away that the Argüelles/Moncloa zone.

Understanding the teachers in class has never been a problem. The most difficult, at first anyway, was to have a casual conversation with a native speaker.

Except for accomodation that is much more expensive in Madrid than in Montreal, price levels are vitually the same. The increase in my expenses was due to that I travelled and went out much more often.
