INSA Lyon

I don't play sports so I'll keep my opinion to myself. The one thing I'll say is that French people are greedy. The guy that replaced me had the choice of any sport he wanted on my 40,000 dollar tuition without paying, but I in return had to pay a yearly fee to play table tennis, money they will not reimburse me. Participate in all the free activities, they are fun especially when you have international friends. Beaujolais, Nuits des Lumieres, Short film festival, 24 Hours etc.... My social life was great and no thanks to the french may I add. French students get wasted at 9pm and go to bed or if they are guys they start dancing with each other in the club and forget that there are girls. That's their idea of fun.

The best sport is definitely soccer. But there are plenty of tennis courts as well, so the oppurtunity should'nt be missed out. The student bar K-fet, which is inside campus is a nice place to be at specific special occasions. Otherwise there is a popular nightclub next door called 'Oxxo' which has free crepes on wednesdays. However the definitive nightclub is in the city center called 'Ayer's rock'. Lyon has its share of events...the Boujolais festival happens in october when the 'noveau' Boujolais arrives by ship in lyon. Another event to watch out for is the 'Fete de lumiere' at the time of which the whole town is bathed by light with special events at the town center.

First meal offert to Erasmus students. To be envolved in programs of publicity of your own country. Places to go: La fourvière, les fresques sur de parois, le vieux lyon, l'opéra, Hôtel de Ville, Croix Rousse... All a litel. Lyon is a wonderful city. Places in the night: for joining spanish people, café Sevilla, and for joining people for all over the world: Ayer's Rock, Cosmopolitan, Plastic People, Fridge, Fish. And in the campus, La K-fêt y l'Oxxo. There are also many cultural activities in the campus, at the rotonde, and also in lyon, in the opera, theatre...

Pubs: The Down Under, O'Gorman's, l'Oxxo, Road 66, le Bleu-Nuit, Loft Club... Restaurants: le guignol, pizzeria Pino's... Places: le Vieux-Lyon, Place des Terreaux, Fourviere, rue de la Republique, ...

a place not to be missed : the whole city; a good cafe: OXXO, by the university; plenty of things to do all day and all night long. Do not miss the little and typical restaurants downtown.

Ayer's Rock is a must. Salsa clubs are good too. Can't miss la Fete des lumieres. There is also a marche de noel at christmas and a music festival in June (les nuits de fourviere)
