Main source of funding:
Family
Other sources of funding:
An ERASMUS grant
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits
The cost of daily life is similar to that of my hometown. However, the very poor housing I had, was also very cheap. Even more, since all students in France get subsidiaries for their housing. On the other hand, being an Erasmus, exploring and travelling becomes a part of your life, and these costs come extra.

Languages
Language of instruction: French

My level after: At ease in most situations
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
At first it was shocking to see how few people really spoke english, all the communication was in french. Although, my choice for France, was partly to learn french, it seemed quite difficult in the beginning, especially in the lectures and administrative situations. However, when you're surrounded by only french speaking people, it is only naturally to pick up the language after a while. The effort didn't seem that great at the end, compared to the great amount one can learn in a short period.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
My school was the only one not located on the university campus, but in the centre of Grenoble. Furthermore, the house facilities and security were poor.

Personal comments
There were no clear descriptions in advance of the housing conditions. This made it rather difficult to choose which luxury category would be sufficient or not. Therefore, a lot of foreign students were the first month occupied with searching for other housing.

Personal comments
Keep up with the student parties organized by the different schools in the clubs of Grenoble. There is always some party to go to. Also, the nightlife of Grenoble is really lady-friendly, offering from wednesday till sunday free entrances and drinks (all night long) to the ladies. For example in L'orus and K'Doc. Across L'orus, hidden above the cinema, there is also a nice restaurant/lounge bar to begin the evening calmly. In the streets leading from Place Notre Dame, there are also nice cocktail and lounge bars.
