Academic
Course recommendations
I found the courses very challenging compared to my home University but I guess I thrive on a challenge.

I studied two courses at a time for two months then the same over instead of four courses for the whole semester. This was a slight challenge.

Overall
I wish I had known...
Wait for the culture shock! Little things matter. Bring lots of photos to remind yourself of home but dont compare the two countries that just pisses people off.

Dont load down your suitcase with pots and pans, just buy it from the second hand shops. Ikea has lots of cheap stuff.

Languages
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
I learnt Swedish for five months at the University. Only two months was compusary. If you want to learn the language break away from the internmational students and hang around with Swedes. I lived with an Italian who couldnt speak much english to start with but picked it up very quickly. A great place to go to learn English!

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Raslatt is 6 km from the University and segregated from the rest of the town. If I were to stay longer I would try and find accomodation in the heart of the town.

Personal comments
There are problems with the amount of accomodation in the city however Raslatt was good to met new international students.

Weednesday is student night at Karan. Awesome place to practise the Swedish pick up lines! Huset was pretty good, got to see Anne Lee perform there. Twin Cities a place to relax on a Monday night. Bummer about the movies though! They close really early as do the pubs.
