The host university was very receptive to their foreign students and I was at rather ease with everything. However, there was a constant learning of habits and attitudes of the people around me that made the experience so enthralling. Understanding people and their different social customs and how to adapt accordingly was my biggest gains in studying in a foreign location.

basically if you don't speak swedish, you will not have problems communicating at the university (if your courses are in english), everyday life or social life, swede people most of them speak really good english, so even going to the supermarket or the ikea, is not a frustrating or scary experience if your swedish is not that good.

Every Swedish people speak very good English. Therefore, it is really hard to learn Swedish (if you dont take couses in Swedish). On the other hand, you can greatly improve your English. German people learn Swedish quite easyly, because it is close to German.

There were a lot of chances, such as seminars, discussing after-class, to practise my English, academic or non-academic, during the study. And since almost everyone knows English here, I can communicate with other people without any trouble in daily life too.
