I have never met anyone in Flanders who did not speak or at least try and communicate with me in English. THey are an exteremly flexible people.

I do not smoke so I didnt go to th pubs very often compared to back home where they are smoke free. But I didnt miss it.

Final comments
Keep a good attitude during the 8 month long winter. The rain may get you down, but when summer hits Everything is green and wonderful to look at from the library where you will be studying for your June exams.

Why?
I lived in the Salvast monestery and it was great! justoutside of town but in the forest. Plus I had plenty of interaction with the 125+ Flemish students.

The fitness facilities are lacking overall compared to american standards. Poor hours and mostly just cardiovascular exercise rather than weights.
