Final comments
I didnt regret to go to Sydney, it was the best time of my life. I met wonderful people. However it took some effort to find Australian. This university is somehow too international in this sense. But I made real good connections with people from very different countries. Go for it.

Academic
Course recommendations
this university hosts a large number of international students, they seem even to dominate. It is a bit hard to find real locals, especially in the postgrad courses

Personal spending habits
Sydney is overall very expensive, but one thing is pretty bad, international students are not eligable for concessions in public transport, it would be nice to change this, since we pay already much higher tution fees!
