Academic
Course recommendations
The courses I took were fantastic, in contents and extent. I found professors really inspiring and dedicated. The Screenwriting unit I took is probably the best class I've ever been to.

Languages
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your English?
My level before:
My level after:
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
I arrived with a pretty good level of English, but all my encounters with the language at that point had been purely academic or touristy short trips at most. I found some difficulties at the beginning, but could feel improvements within the first months. And I actually had no problems with the accent, as I had been warned might be the case.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I actually changed houses for my second semester, and I found a room in a shared apartment in the city. Both options (uni housing and independent) worked well for me.

Personal comments
It was pretty much what I expected: spacious, clean and with every facility one could reasonably ask for. It wasn't particularly luxurious, but it was ok. What I liked best was my flatmates, two American blokes and a Japanese girl. The neighbours were from all around the world, so it was a trully international atmosphere.

Personal comments
Favourite night spots have to be in the city, Three Wise Monkeys in George St and The Gaff in Oxford St are cool. Sydney is a backpacker hotspot, and most backpacker places can be found in Kings Cross. Best cafe has to be Campos in Newtown - best coffee ever! Gloria Jean's Coffees is good too. Classics like Mardi Gras or New Year's Eve are events not to be missed. Try to make it to the Open Air Cinema in January/February.
