Course recommendations
Be sure to 'shop around' in the beginning. There are great number of courses and you want to make sure you choose the best ones. All modules dont offer seminars paralell to lectures so be sure to find out which because seminars will help you considerably in your studies.

Personal comments
Most modules have midterm exams which is a bit of a hassle if you also have a lot of essays to submit. But then again, the exams are really easy - reminded me of the type of exams I had in Upper Secondary School.. The essays however will require a fair share of time - especially if you are pursuing those A's!

McGill is a good university if you're self-directed. If you are, there are professors and advisers who are happy to help and point you in the proper direction.

It's a good university, but they need to put effort into keeping it that way!

It cold in here in the winter, but perfect May-September. Quebecois n'est pas la meme chose que le francais. Don't take the first apartment you find! Montreal is a "renter's market."

McGill is hard hit financially. They just a $64 million dollar gift though from one alumnus. Its not Harvard, but it has a great international reputation.

Come here to meet international students. They are everywhere. Its great. The Canucks are nice too once you get to know them a bit, just don't make too much of their health care or high taxes--they don't like that. The US-Canadian dollar exchange rate makes the cost of living and tuition (which is already low) very cheap compared to studying in the states. The classes are big here, but the professors are always happy if you visit them in their office or after class. I highly recommend McGill.

I wish I had known...
I wished I had more time to travel to the suburbs, and got to know the city more instead of hanging around with just the student places, but due to lack of my own transport, this was a problem.
