Cost-saving tips: Live off-campus, do not take the meal plan and try to find some odd-jobs on campus. There are plenty.

Overall
I wish I had known...
How cheap living off-campus would be, how expensive meal plans really are and also to book travel tickets way in advance!

In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
RPI is a good university because it offers a wide range of courses and excellent resources. It is also convenient if you want to travel to major cities on the East Coast. Also located in a small town so you can really interact and gel well with the local students and experience American culture. But if you are looking for a good night life/social life then you may want to consider other options as well.

Personal comments
The closest and best places to go would be in Albany for a night life. However if you seriously want to party, then seriously consider Boston. There are a few good bars though in downtown Troy.
