Personal comments
I was pleased to live where I lived, although there were some inconveniences involved, as the student house facilities were quite old and blackouts or problems with pipes were not seldom.

I had planned to study Dutch language courses but in the end I didn't. I just studided the language by myself from a book. People speak English well enough in the Netherlands. The English language skills of the professors were sometimes good and sometimes a bit poor.

Great University and international student city
Annika L

Overall
My exprience studying psychology in Groningen was great. A wide array of courses to choose from, most of which are held by highly competent and very nice lecturers. The city itself, albeit small, offers a lot of activities for students and is populated mainly by students who come from all kinds of different places. Also, the Covid situation was handled highly professionally so that we had no delays. I really recommend the RUG!

The nightlife in Groningen is really great. There's always a bar or club open until at least 6am every night of the week, even if they are a bit manky. The main places us international students tended to go included Sally's, Speigal, Rumba, Three Sisters, Palace and Negende Cirkle. Molly Mallones was also popular for a while, but watch out for the gorilla-like bouncers, they're twats. Generally, there's plenty of choice for all tastes. If you're still here in May, don't miss the Pink Pop festival in the south of the country, well worth it!
