Housing
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
More independent way of living, more space. Living with other students would have been great! Living within a family needs a lot of adjustment.

Housing on campus was not offered to visiting students staying for less than one full year. Therefore I had to find accomodation on my own which was not that easy. The Accomodation Office of the University had sent a list of possible landladies/-lords. Some of them were not willing to house international students, others would only rent out a room for a period of at least one year.

Housing
Type of housing: flatshare
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
Because I feel that not living on campus caused me to miss out on all the student life and on making friends with other people there.

For me accomodation was too expensive as the grant from the Sorbonne was only minimal. Besides I quite like comfort and I've never lived in a student residence, so I don't know how I would have coped with the communal kitchen/showers. The main building is nice, though, beautiful architecture.

Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
i think 1 year living on campus was enough later on we all moved into the same area and our group of friends literally live on the same corner.. its better to leave the campus accommodation to the freshers

Residence is the most cost-effective option even if it is somewhat pricey. This is because housing prices in surrounding Egham and Englefield Green are steep. Overall, I found the residences at Holloway quite good in most respects except cleanliness, but avoid Athlone and Cameron halls which are inhospitable to say the least. However, they are slated to be replaced in the near future.

When choosing residence, I found Founder's to be a great choice due to the splendour of the building and the large rooms available there. It is also great residence in which to meet other students and to make friends. The facilities in Holloway, however, are lacklustre, the main problem being inadequate shower facilities. Also, if you do not like to share common facilities (kitchen/washrooms) and if you would like to cook for yourself, Runneymede is a better choice.

Student housing is good if you manage to get it on the main campus, if you get away from the main campus (Kingswood) I would try to find a flat instead.
