I wish I had known...
Prepare yourself for french administartion: a never ending paper trail. Before going to an office bring every possible piece of paper they could ask you for! Your first electricity/gas bill is a precious document.

Get a carte orange for your metro/bus transport it's cheaper if you move around quite a bit than buying individual tickets.

The Mazet, St Germain des pres: when all the other bars are closed, dancing 'til dawn! The Coolin Irish bar, Marché Saint Germain, excellent atmosphere, especially for Rugby matches!
