The housing residence that I stayed in was in a perfect location. It was within a 15-20 minute walking distance to the campus. It was directly across the street from the underground metro station which proved very convenient. It was within walkable distance to a major shopping area. It was also very near to a high-tech internet cafe which was great. As for the residence itself, it was pretty good. I was especially happy because I shared a 3 person room with only one other person, so I had plenty of space. The kitchen/living room area was a little small, but other than that, everything was great!

The area near Puerta Del Sol and Plaza Mayor had great nightlife. It was fun to eat dinner outside in the middle of Plaza Mayor at night. There are also great restuarants around that area, as well as nightclubs. However, the nightclubs that I went to that I thought were great were dispersed throughout the city.

Personal recommendation
My experience at Suffolk University was incredible! The academic aspect was great and the cultural aspect was even greater! The university offers a wide variety of courses. I never expected that I would take Business and Marketing courses in Spain, but it was well worth it! The professors are very passionate about their subject and are also very knowledgable. Besides academics, the university also allowed its students to travel to other parts of Spain, which was invaluable. You get to see beautiful sights and really get a feel for Spanish culture.

For one of the courses I took, the determination of the final grade was based solely on the final exam. Although I did well, I wished that instead of one exam (that could make or break your grade), there should be other types of assignments throughout the course that are used to asses the final grade.

Personal comments
Most of the time throughout my trip, I was travelling with someone who was fluent in Spanish. So she would do the talking most of the time. However, there were many occasions when I used my Spanish speaking skills on my own, which was a little challenging at times. As for the university, English was the primary language.
