It is one of the accredited Universities in Europe where tuition is free(world standard). This University should open it doors to students from developing countries where there shortages of higher institutions of learning. I would like to thank the University administrators for their high standard education offered to me freely. There are few free Universities with good qualities in the world today.

I have learned better experiences in studying abroad, and I am so delighted.I am more useful and knowledgeable than before. One thinks that he/she knows many things but only realises that he/she knows very little when he/she travels abroad, meet different people, learn different cultures, and see many new things and places.

Dépenses habituelles
Finnish food is a litttle more expensive than in France. Telephone bills are higher because of international communications. And Internet is useful but you sometimes need to hear your family or boy/girlfriend. My accomodation was really cheap: 1412 FIM with electricity , heating and water included. Travelling is one of the main activities for foreign students in Finland. If you want to make the traditional trips, you had better save money before coming. Personnally, I went to Stockholm for a one day trip (125 FIM by boat), Tallinn (35 FIM by slow boat), Saint Petersbourg (around 1200 FIM for a three day trip: everything include even the visa), Lapland (400 FIM by train).

To save money, you should eat like Finnish people. (no vegetables, no fruits) Also, have lunch at university: 13,50 FIM for main course+rice or potatoes+ salad buffet+bread. Very good and cheap!

Well, Finnish language is really hard to cope with. if you only to go Finland for one semester, do not expect to learn Finnish! Forget it! However, in Helsinki, most people have a very good English level. So, there is no problem to communicate with Finnish people. Even if, it is harder to get to know local people without speaking their language. At last, all student exchange speak English. So noimportant communication problem. But you have to know that it is sometimes frustrating to speak another language because it prevents you from expressing yourself completely. (for instance, at the beginning, it is hard to make jokes)

Logement
Type de logement: Appartement/maison
Organisé par: Indépenant - choix personnel
Si j'y retournais je choisirais: Appartement/maison
Pourquoi?
It is simply because the Apartment/House is owned and managed by the Centre for International Mobility(CIMO),which is a non- profit organisation. Offers Apartments at relatively cheap rate only to international students. These Apartments are well equiped, that is the sitting rooms, dinning tables, kitchen utensils, and bedrooms are furnished.

Where I reside, even though it is independently chosen, the housing conditions are better than those in other student residences offered by some local housing companies.Generally, there are good student housing facilities in my host unversity country.

Recommandations de cours
International Marketing course: very interesting and concrete. International Trade Law: very desappointing. Cultural Environment of International Business: very desappointing, too theoretical. Strategies for Asia Pacific: Incredible. Taught by Ingmar Bjorkman, an INSEAD teacher as well, this course is time consuming but really worth it. The teaher is amazingly interesting, dynamic. He knows how to share its past and current experiences in this area. Just go for it! (even if you are planning to work in Asia. Just try!)

just do not try to cheat at exams or during courses. in general cheating is not at all desirable but the students at hanken are very keen on that subject. some would tell the instructor if they knew about somebody was cheating. some students were involved in cheating which caused lively discussions throughout the university.

finland was my favourite country already before and here my attitude was enforced. be busy at university, you can learn a lot in those intensive courses. but don't forget to live: travel around the country, there's lots of overwhelming nature to see in finland. concerning neighbours: maybe go to tallinn, st. petersburg, moscow, stockholm. nature is fascinating in all seasons, drinking water is clean and quality of life is high. however, keep in mind that there is a population of about 5m people which makes an extended public transport system (like e.g. the one in vienna) superfluous. you will have to make use of busses rather than of the metro, but still it is not a big problem to get to wherever you are going to. in the city center you can go on foot to all important places.
