Why?

Personal comments
An apartment near the university is quite cheap, and definitely cheaper than one in the center of Madrid. Also it's better than a room in the Residency if you want your private place. But it'll take you a while to find something good.

If you study on the Getafe campus and want to go out frequently in Madrid I would recommend to search for a room in Legazpi, Delicias or Villaverde Alto. If you want to save money look for a room in Getafe close to the campus.

the adminstration things in the first couple of weeks (choosing courses, handing in forms, getting id) was the hardest since i hadn't studied spanish for over a year. get some help from the erasmus assocation or the international office. i learnt most spanish at home talking with my spanish flatmates, but there are also courses run by the university.

Try to find a sistemation before arriving, it's a bit hard for the number of students that arrive all together also from the rest of Spain.
