Spanish seem to be very friendly towards strangers but they take the opportunity to use their english skills when they can. Courses in Spanish were the most useful part but also the communication with the local people (e.g. landlady who did not speak english at all etc.)

I wish I had known...
There is nothing that I really would have like to know. Maybe a bit more Spanish because the beginning was really hard.

Personal recommendation
The university has a good reputation between Spanish universities and also as regards to other universities in Madrid. That is really true, because everything was well organised starting from tutor-organisation (that is important!) to the interesting courses.

Final comments
Go to Madrid! That is a city to be seen and life there is nice. People are friendly and helpful. Spanish culture in itself curious and attractive. Travelling by bus in Spain and Portugal is cheap and buses confortable. If you are going to Carlos III it is worth considering to live in Getafe. Much more cheaper, good communication with Madrid (trains, buses even at night) and the people in Getafe are more like in Spain in general. Madrid is more turistic than Spanish.

Course recommendations
Last year courses of LADE (Licanciatura en Administracion y Direccion de Empresas) were pretty good. Especially those in marketing. I also assisted in legal French course that was directed to postgraduate students but it was also quite good for some who has some experience in law and French

Well, in Madrid, there are plenty of nice corners. You hardly can select the best one. Of course, famous night clubs as Palacio de Gaviria is always to be seen. At my home town, Getafe that is 15km from Madrid city centre there where quite nice corner cafes and even an irish pub.
