My grammer professor taught us very well. He did some amazing work with the subjunctive form, but more incrediblely, he ended up teaching us all the swear words possible by the simple use of them in nearly every sentence. I enjoyed the Spanish day in and day out, and vastly improved.

There were a lot of Italian students, which was good because with them I spoke Spanish. With Germans I usually spoke English. There were many Southamericans too. I also had some spanish friends.

In the beginning it was hard to follow the lectures in spanish, but after a while you understand it and then there is still enough time to follow the course.

Before my time in Spain i had only studied Spanish for 2 years at university. In Santander i really had to work hard because noone there really speaks much English but this paid off really well as my language improved a great deal! making foreign friends at university helped a lot as we all spoke Spanish all the time

I had the chance to get to know a lot of nice students during my stay. These relations helped a lot to learn the basic vocabulary and to prevent mistakes.

it's been a wonderful experience, 'cause you're completely immerged in the language; teachers were wonderful and ready to help you in every situation. The mian problem was that we were 17 Italian students all togheter..we could have spoken much more Spanish if the organization had been different...

ABOUT
The University of Cantabria is a young public university, created by a Decree passed on the 18th of August, 1972. Until then, university education in Santander was limited to the courses offered by The School of Civil Engineering, established in 1966, and the specialism in Physics in the Faculty of Science, which had been created in 1969. Both the School and the Faculty were dependent on The University of Valladolid. The establishment of Santander as an independent University dates from 1971. Two years later, The Faculty of Medicine was set up, the new Faculty of Science building was inaugurated and The University Colleges of Industrial Engineering, Business Studies, the College of Mining Engineering in Torrelavega and The Teacher Training School were incorporated.
