Irish Stones pub is a favourite with Erasmus as a meeting point at the beginning of a night out. Cafe Boulevard was one of my favourites, Gallerias de Urquijo for nightlife was brilliant fun. Also Congreso, Conjunto clubs and Casco Viejo bars are great. Events; carnival around feb/march in Bilbao and surrounding area, San Fermin and the running of the bulls in summer, not to be missed. St Patrick's day was celebrated to the full in the Irish Stones. Also take a trip to the Guggenheim museum, interesting stuff there!

Final comments
In Spain travelling by bus is much quicker and cheaper then by train. So, use buses as much as you can, you won't regret. Try to meet as many local people as possible -- this is the only way to get into a foreign culture and understand and appreciate it. Try not to be enclosed in the international students' partying. It might be amazing, but it is also somewhat fake.

Personal comments
More interaction with tutors and recognition from them that they have Erasmus students in their classes. Greater explanation of tasks to be done for the next class and a slower pace in classes. Informal meeting at the beginning of the year for international students and local students.

If you come to Bilbao, come at the beginning of September and look for your own place... The agency that Deusto offers you is ok, but it´s very easy to find something on your own.. For example through this website...

Think twice before choosing Deusto if your not studying Law or Economics. I´m sorry to say so, but in the faculty of ´filosofia y letras´ many people were very disappointed with the courses offered. It was hard to find positive comments on that... Deusto is very different to other universities. At least, that´s what I founfd, in comparison to Amsterdam. There´s a lot of rules and regulations that are really hard to understand...

pff... If I start to write here... Just a little example.. The library; You can take max. 3 books. Keep them for 8 days and if you want to extend them... you bring them back and wait for a day.. then you go back and pichk em up for another 8 days... If your 1 day late, your penalty is you can´t take any books out for the next 8 days... And you don´t enter inside the library either.. you look up the book you want in a computer, send a message to teh secretary, and she gets the book out of the library...
