The reason why I chose Spain as an Erasmus student was because I could not speak a word of Spanish and really wanted to learn the language. The other reason was because I did not know much about the country and the culture. I really enjoyed my stay in Salamanca which is a beautiful city. I got to learn Spanish quite quickly and I loved the culture. It was also a very good opportunity to meet other people and other students from all over the world. The University education in languages was very strict but very good. It was a very good experience!

Living with a family was an incredible experience. However, if given the opportunity to live with peers/students who were not native English speakers, our common language would have been Spanish. While my host family did not speak English, I feel as though I would have spoken more frequently if I had lived with peers.

My Spanish home stay was an amazing experience that I would not trade. The insider's view to a Spanish home, food, family unit, television programs, etc. provided me with a wealth of knowledge of the Spanish culture I would have otherwise not gained. I felt very doted upon at the dinner table (excellent food!) but never told to study or given a curfew. If these are issues that may deter prospective students wishing to study abroad...please do not let it!

I would like to live with Spanish roommates around my age and thus immerse myself in the culture. Living with a family during my first visit to Spain was a good choice, but I would like to make Spanish friends.

I was happy with it, although it took some adjustment. I had expected to be treated as a family member, but it was more a business arrangement than anything; I was a boarder. I ended up becoming close with my host sister, and we're still in touch.

all the rooms i saw were pretty small. not all kitchens were clean. but if you take your time you will surele find something, with internet too, within of 3 or 5 days.dont expect luxuri, because, the rooms are frequently used by new students, who do not stay longer than a year in salamanca

I change families within a week from my arrival, the first family was "dissapointing", they were smokers and had pets - which i specifically asked not to have in the house. The second family was an elderly lady and her son - they were like my family, a family away from home. The lady and her son was very nice to me.

I think the housing facilities at the University of Salamanca are excellent but way too expensive for a student who does not have a scholarship. That is why I had to live outside the university campus. I am very happy with my choice though. I'm close to the campus and to the Plaza Mayor which is the heart of the city, the facilities in my flat are good and my flatmate are good and fairly organized people.
