If you want you can go out everyday in this down, from Monday to Monday. The thing is you can't produce much during the day if you act like that, so I chose not to. I like going to the cinema, bar de tapas (the best) or just watching a film and having dinner with my friends at home during the week. On Thurday I allow myself to start clubbing and that goes on for two more days. The interesting thing in Salamanca is that, as you can walk everywhere and you don't have to pay to enter the clubs, people usually switch all night long visiting several places in a night. Very different from what happens in my home town, where we have to pick one place to go for the night.

Salamanca is simply a beautiful city and has something for everybody. Ancient buildings, friendly people, clean streets. Every night had its special bars, offering amazing prices. Tuesday and wednesday many bars offered a 'barra libre', which means you can have an 'all you can drink' stamp on your hand for 3 or 4 euros. And then you had the weekend when prices were raised a bit, but were still under the European average. As Salamanca is located near the middle of Spain, it is really easy to discover the rest of the country by renting a car. Madrid, Sevilla, Lisbon, Porto and Santander are a couple of the numerous cities within reach.

If you're there to get your buzz on (and it's a definately college city, so who isn't?), Jacko's, just outside Plaza Mayor had liter mixed drinks for under 700 ptas. (less than $4) and liter drafts for about 200 ptas. Camelot or the Irish Rover were the best dance clubs. Be sure to take advantage of the people out on the streets giving away coupons, you can't miss them and usually the deals are "buy 1 drink, get 1 free" or "1st drink free".

I was very fortunate to live in Salamanca when it was the culture capital of Europe. There was always something interesting happening. My favorite night spots include Bar Segundo, Bar Country, Irish Rover, and Morgana. Because Salamanca is a university city there is a variety of bars and discos geared for the college student...something for everyone.

O'hara's, Jacko's, El Midievo, The Irish Rover, El Torero, and Potenkim were some of my favorite night spots. I loved to shop and see the women's fashion desplayed at Zara! I had a membership at a gym in northern Salamanca and it was very clean & I loved the 'body balance' classes offered. There were several good tapas bars on Van Dick street, too.

there is no specific place that could be described to be the best one. spanish people "move", especially as salamanca is such a small town. but you should really try the traditional way of going out (ir por tapas/ pinchos) in Calle VanDick. be prepared for a hole night (til 6:00), not eurlier than 23:00
