In Valladolid, almost everything closes from 2-5 p.m. and I didn't get out of school until 1:30 so sometimes it was difficult to get to a bank. It's better to bring an ATM card also because the machines are open all of the time and there is almost always a fee to cash travelers checks.

The University is a great place to meet students from around the world and they teach Spanish at all levels. I believe the program was excellent for advanced levels, especially the literature component.

Be prepared to walk a lot or ride the bus if you live farther from the school. Also, don't worry about getting lost because "Vallesoletanos" are very friendly people so you can just ask someone on the street for directions. Also, the town is not too huge and not too small, so it is possible to learn your way around and it is a safe place.
