Personal recommendation
All in all I'd recomend going there for a study-abroad experience. The administration is chaotic at times. But the people from the office of "relaciones internacionales" are really nice and helpful. The coordinators of each faculty have to be bothered at times until they are willingto help you. Spanish students here are usually nice and helpful.

If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
-to be able to chose the people I'm going to live with -in an apartment there's usually more space -more independence

Personal comments
-there is the possiblility to live in "alojamientos", provided by the university. Similar to dorms in the US (there's a cafeteria for meals and a cleaningperson) - to look for apartments students get here one or two weeks before semester begin, people her rent single rooms, and it is not unusual to pay the rent in cash
