I studied interpreting and one of my languages was Portuguese, so it was essential for me to spend some months in Portugal. I arrived in Portugal after havong studied Portuguese for a year. I needed lots of practice to improve and the Erasmus was the best choice to do that.

Unfortunately, local students of Universidade Catolica are not interested in bonding with Erasmus students. Anyway, Lisbon is great, you can have fun despite this fact.

Final comments
The first thing I would suggest to Erasmus students in Lisbon is enjoying the city, all the museums and beautiful landmarks that it has and its nightlife. It's the best way to learn more about Portugal and to learn Portuguese. And don't be afraid of all the things you might hear about the lack of security. Just pay attention as you would in your homecountry. And take the taxi at night. They are not expensive at all.

Personal comments
I had problems with the landlady, she was a bit strange and she was living with us, but that wasn't host university's fault. However, it's not easy to find a house in Lisbon and I have to thank the secretary of the Erasmus office who helped me a lot in my search.
