There were many possibilities to find a house and a lot of places to live. There were exactly on the campus and allowed you to not take a transport to arrive to classes

Overall
culture and coimbra city is lively for party. Not recommended for quiet studies.
Professors some are only willing to help and really support in english or accept the fact if you try speak portuguese. The admission is a fuss in the phd program i was at energy for sustainability. Social events was organized but often not extended properly to new freshmens. less priority to a low class and least developed country. Professor Patricia Pereira the economics was a racist on muslim and condemn my nation for the palestinian oil . In class a lot of uncomfortable unsettling interest from the local portuguese teacher only give favoritism to those who can help in her career. When i went to the director office at martins of the efs program, he reported me and take me off the mit portugal. I had my proposal thesis extended from my msc. completed in 58000 words and he had full access to my work and this proposal the indicators on life cycle assessment and energy efficiency transformation in higher education. After the small report on racism case, and the no respect by Patricia to me as a phd student, i was told off that she already supervised african students and my case is invalid. I felt demoralized and also more abused in the university of coimbra. Especially from the female professor which have special care from the male senior.

I chose the room I stayed in independently and was not too fussy at the time. I much enjoyed living with other Portuguese girls (2) as this gave me an immediate taste of how people live there.

Personal comments
My main objective in travelling to Coimbra was to familiarise myself with the Portuguese language before starting my undergraduate degree in Bristol (UK). Although understandably nervous about not speaking Portuguese upon arrival, living in the country and having to cope with situations immediately helps enormously. My other languages helped a lot too.

Academic
Course recommendations
The courses are very good, mainly the language ones. I don't know about the other ones. The teachers are very good. I've been in Cambridge studying too, and I found the teaching level pretty alike.
