Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Because the appartment provided to us was very good, close to university, next to all the restaurants. and most exchange studnts lived in the same block, we had access to a swimmingpool and a small gym.

it was very good and helpful that the university helped us with finding the appartment, and that all of us lived so close to each other. they really took care of our living.

Final comments
Try to travel a bit, especially to the mainland China, which is very different from Macau or Hong Kong. Hong Kong is definitely also worth a visit. very impressive. Be patient when you come to this country and open for new things!

Personal spending habits
The nightlife is very expensive in Macau, beer or entrance to a club is triple as expensive, at least! Since I only called over the Internet, I spend asically nothing on telephone. Since I wanted to see a lot in China, I travelled a lot, while at home I would never travel during my studies to far away places. But once you are in Asia you have to use the opportunities of getting really to know the country and the culture etc...

Personal comments
Yes, I faced problems with my bank card from home (which only works on some dispensers), and also sometimes with my creditcard. but in general you can use masterard or visa at every dispenser in Macau. I would say it is not worth to get a bank account there.

Personal comments
In the university I didnt face real prolems regarding the language, since I am ver fluent and used to English as my first language anyway. But it was often difficult to listen to the Chinese students during presentations or groupwork. the language knowledge of the teachers are good. In the social life it was no problem with speaking english- since i mainly was only with exchange students. The everyday life is difficult due to the language, as nobody in restaurants, taxis etc understands english. that is sometims really annoying.
