Ribeira at night is wonderful, it´s full of pubs by the Douro river. Piolho and Gestoá Café are the students meeting point. Fantasporto is a festival of fantastic cinema, quite good. Besides, Parque da Cidade, Palacio do Cristal are beautiful parks. Rua Santa Catarina is a downtown street full of shops.

Final comments
Take care of your bag in downtown and Ribeira, there are lot of thiefes. Never buy bus tickets in the bus,it´s more expensive (double price). There is a student festival in may, called Queima das Fitas, that is really amaizing.

It was a bit dificult at first, but I lernt portuguese by assisting to an intensive portuguese course for foreigners. But I was all day long in my laboratory, working alone the most of the time, and I couldn´t improve the languaje.
