Accademically depends on each student; it can be very challeging or just a matter of having the credits back for your hoem university. But Bocconi gives a lot of opportunity to his students.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Although the first experience with the appartements was not perfect I still will prefer to look for an appartment instead of living in one of the rooms which are provided by the university. I consider pivacy and space as very impaortant. I do have the learning experience as I know now which areas I would like to live in Milan and know more people so it will be easier to find something which suits me.

Personal comments
What I have heard from the other students who did live in the accomodations of the university is that they lack the privacy and space. There is no possibility to cook in your own space and you cannot have any guests staying the night. The advantage is that someone cleans your room.

You don't have that much time to learn a language because you interact so much with other foreign students. So it's better to activate your language skills before you go.

It's a good, well-known university but do'nt expect the teaching methods to be anything extraordinary. From a Nordic point of view, they have few case studies etc. and rely too much on lectures and exams.

The career services is great. People who really wanted to do an internship in Italy, had a good chance of finding a place. In Italy, employers hire interns from foreign countries only if they study at a local university, so it's best to find a job/internship while you are doing your exchange semester.

Personal spending habits
Housing is just more expensive, while in Oslo you can find an apartment for 400euros and a bit pluss, I feel luckey to find a central appartment for 500euros here... Telephone was more expensive because I use a refill card here while back home I have a contract, but still the prices on calls are higher..

Use www.secondamano.it and www.ebay.it for what it is worth!! Do you need anything from AC, matress, sofa to clothes they have it! If you need to go to IKEA, you can rent a van there, cost you about 30euros and you can use it for 2hours. Want to rent car cheap to give for short trips, www.sixti.it, 10euros per day (max100km) in a Fiat Punto!!

bocconi is known as top university - people there accordingly can be snobbish; on the other hand i could not really detect a difference in course quality to my home university

at first glance milan might appear greyish and unfriendly. in fact, i found it much different from other italian cities i had been to earlier (florence, rome, . . .). however, you will find out that milan, besides being noisy and stressful can be an extremely interesting place to live. many interesting places are near - i loved the ligurian cost with places like camogli, santa margherita or noli. there is such a lot of beautiful and interesting places in italy, try to see as much of them as possible!
