I went to Italy to learn italian and before leaving Belgium I studied basic sentences etc. by myself. During my stay in Italy I improved very fast thanks to contact with the local population. Afterwards I stayed in touched with many of them and I'm still using Italian on a regular basis, not only in my social but also in my professional life.

The university doesn't offer an Italian language course during the semester. But if you check other places you can easly find other universities that offer courses to foreign students (even if they study in another college)or even langages' schools that offer the same courses.

In milan is easy to find people who Even if I had a good knowledge of Italian,in Milan is easy to find people who speak english and at the university I had not problem at all

Catholic University is an uinternational University there are a lot of international students and even if you don't speak italian teachers can speak english and french

It was really difficult to communicate because I 've stayed month before in Scotland, so it was difficult to change. but after few weeks, all things are ok !

For the first days its better if you learn few words... but Im spanish and you should know that the italian is quite similar. You will enjoy this lenguage!!!
