“I've learned a lot but the relevance of what I learned is limited.”

Italy, Undergraduate
Political Science, 2013
Overall
Being in Florence was really good. The level of the lecturers was outstanding and they were willing to help us for the most part. Programmes, however, were utterly inadequate for any professional development: it was a lot of theory and not a lot of practical learning.
Within the theory itself, in light of me now having become a PhD Candidate: Research Methods was completely ignored throughout the 3 years and into the dissertation. I wrote an entire dissertation not knowing what research actually is.

Course recommendations
Talk to local students about the classes and professors. It is a challenge but one you will remember and be proud of forever if you work really hard to get it.

My university was very outdated. The did not have computers or any kind of special kind of technology. It basically you and the books (which were sometimes over 100 years old), but I fell in love with it. It made studying so much more meaningful and special. It was very different and I loved every minlute of it.

Weekly student meeting in the Cardillac (Via degli Alfani) - ask for the AEGEE guys Mario (always has tickests for the coolest clubs), Luigi, Alessio, Roberto (born organisers). Don't miss: Full up, the Latin American disco "Jaraguar", The Central Park, concerts in Santo Spirito, for chocolate Lovers: Hemingway (even have chocolate spoons!!), also don't miss the different "sagre"!! Avoid cafès , bars etc. in the center/near Ponte Vecchio - they are tourist traps!
