Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I would choose to live in an apartment/house as I would go with a different purpose. Campus is very good for a student life, but as I am trying to do an internship and then a job, I think an apartment would be more appropriate.

Personal comments
The housing I was offered in Ceccarrelli, was one of the bests I could get in Padua in a campus. I was very good impressed about it, and I consider it perfect for a student life. The only thing I could complain about, was the internet facilities, which were limited. But I think this is a problem that could be solved pretty easy.

Prestige and student life

Italy, Graduate

Overall
The University of Padua, the second oldest university in Italy (and fourth in the world, being founded in 1222), is closely interwoven with its city. Faculties, halls of residence, and student facilities create a pattern of vivid university life, experienced by students from all over the world. Among the most prestigious courses, Medicine and Law made the history of the institution, with students such as Galileo Galilei and William Harvey. I graduated in "Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures" in 2012, and I am now completing my MA in "Modern American and European languages and literatures". I think that, besides their quality, the most interesting aspect of my courses has been their heterogeneity, encompassing subjects such as Antropology, Philology, Postcolonial Literature and Cultural Studies. This made me develop a professional knowledge and skills that are at the same time extended but also very specific.

I'm an Italian student enrolled at the last year of a master’s degree in "Business Administration" in the University of Padova, where my curriculum includes courses such as ‘Business Plan’, ‘Advanced Operation Management’, ’Advanced Corporate Finance’, ‘Advanced Marketing’ Organization Development and Behaviour’, ’M&A and Corporate Restructuring’ . During my studies and my work experiences I improved the ability to be flexible and capable to interact with dynamic and international context. I'm a fast learner, determined to achieve positive results and to increase my knowledge in business issues.  I'm interested in work opportunities that can give me the possibility to develop my practical competences and to experience what I expect to be my future career.

Purtroppo ho vissuto la maggior parte gli anni accademici in lockdown e la cosa non ha sicuramente aiutato a livello motivazionale.
L'università ti offre comunque tutte le opportunità di crescita e socializzazione

I wish I had known...
That there is an airport in Treviso which Ryanair flies to and there is a very good bus service which goes directly to Padova from opposite the terminal. I think it runs until 10pm and costs c.10Euro. This would have saved me a considerable amount of time and money as I originally flew to Milan and had to take a train.

Final comments
I would definitely recommend joining the ESN as soon as you arrive in Padova - its situated in the little sidestreet opposite the Bo. Also if you are going to travel a lot then it is worth buying the Carte Verde at the beginning of the year to make significant savings. Also if you get a chance definitely go to see a concert or opera in the arena in Verona. And go to the carnivale in Venezia!

Course recommendations
Talk to the Italian students and former Erasmus students. Try and talk with the lecturers in charge of the course and explain your situation to them.

Personal comments
The majority of the exams are oral exams which is very different to my home university system, it was a bit nervewracking but perhaps better than having to sit written exams with limited language ability. I would suggest though that the student attempts the exam at the first possible opportunity to get a feel for the system and to repeat or improve on the exam.
