Course recommendations
Choice of courses very limited in my exchange program (CEMS). Courses taught in English as well as German (you have to know both languages to succeed!)

Personal comments
If the UoC wants to become more international, it should offer more courses taught in English... Having to choose at least 1 or 2 courses in German scares the people off.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
If I could find a room/apartment near campus, which is very hard in Köln, I would prefer that, because even though the location of on campus housing is pretty good, I just wish I had had better flatmates. Mine were terrible.

The facilities are incredible, just be warned that you may not live with people you're fond of.

The student quarter is the Zuelpicher Strasse (nice pubs: La croc, the museum). Also nice is the Friesenplatz. Most of the disco's are outside the center. In the beginning I went especially to Erasmusparties to get to know people. On Saturdays, most of the pubs in the center and the student quarter are full.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I lived close to the university and the other students, but at the same time I had an appartment to myself and thus privacy. Stores and transportation, that is bus and U-bahn, were 1 minumte away!

Always is good to ask the students from the last semester if they could keep the things for you in the host country and not to through it away (for instance SIM card, bet clothing, pillow and blanket, dishes, bicycle...)

We had the opportunity to do a language course at the beginning of the semester. I learned more from interacting with students and following the courses, but the advantage you have when you do the language course is that you already feel at home and have everything well arranged before the semester begins.
